Product Sustainability by Design: Managing Product Footprints and GWPs for Zero Carbon Certification

The product design process offers many opportunities for innovations to improve product sustainability and reduce global warming potentials which are most often evaluated with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Product design-thinking concepts will be presented including: circular economy, alternative materials and light weighting, design for disassembly, novel models of product ownership, and biomimicry as tools for reducing carbon footprints of products.

This session will include guidance on using LCA and EPD data to drive carbon reductions, enhance product design decision making, evaluate product embodied carbon, explore product design changes in at key stage-gates, include manufacturer case studies how using LCA to evaluate products can help earn Zero Carbon and Net Zero Certifications.
