Embodied carbon emissions currently account for 11% of annual global GHG emissions, making the materials we use to build a crucial, but often unseen, contributor to the climate crisis. But what if the buildings we designed and occupied could instead serve to reverse this trend, by acting as carbon sinks?
This summit convenes the leading minds and actors in the embodied carbon conversation to accelerate collaboration and change towards a future with carbon-negative materials. From the Carbon Leadership Forum, to LCA consultants, to manufacturers of bio-based, carbon sequestering materials, this summit will inspire and challenge us all to think deeper about how to design for a living future.

Agenda:
  • Keynote: New Carbon Architecture with Bruce King
  • Panel Discussions
    • Reducing Embodied Carbon Through Design Specification and Procurement
    • Materials CAN (Embodied Carbon in Declare and Carbon Sequestering Materials)
    • Bio-Based and Carbon Sequestering Materials
  • Workshop Exercises
  • Closing Remarks

This session is approved for the following continuing education credits:
  • 6 LFA General credits
  • 6 AIA LU | HSW credits
