Michal Porter

DuPont Performance Building Solutions
Research Engineer
Dr. Porter is a research engineer at DuPont Performance Building Solutions (PBS), formerly Dow Building Solutions, where she has worked in product development since 2010. Her research focus is to enable improved sustainability of insulation foams. She currently leads a project to improve the performance capability of DuPont's insulation products with a focus on enabling higher recycled content, improved Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), and better fire performance.  Previously, she was part of the Dow team that successfully set a new standard for all rigid polystyrene insulation products globally, through the innovation and replacement of a now-banned brominated flame retardant with a polymeric-based equivalent that improved Styrofoam (TM)’s EH&S profile. Michal co-founded a Sustainability Network within DuPont PBS to incorporate LCA in product development.

Michal received a B.S. in Polymer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
